This is a great underrated experience. The arboretum has a wide variety of plant life- anything from common pin oaks to unusual and rare species. There are plaques that give information on the plants, with a few that go into detail on the natural history of the Catskills. The arboretum was not crowded when I went (albiet it was a rainy Tuesday), and we could spend plenty of time admiring the care that goes in to keeping the plants trimmed and healthy. Overall, it is a great experience for someone who wants a quiet outdoor atmosphere to learn about plant life and natural history and conservation.
