I've rented from here for 2 years, and have recently moved out. Living here was actually better than other apartments that I previously had in the campus area. However, there are multiple complaints I have about the management: one is that they would never give us proper warning that either maintenance or showings of the apartment to new tenants would be coming into the apartment- sure they sent emails, but it would be at 5 pm the previous day, when the appointments were set for the morning. I'm very busy and work weird hours normally, so I would never have time to go back and pick the place up a bit before they showed up. Especially that fun time when they decided to tear out the porch and re-do it without warning, or when they decided to repaint the house without warning.
Whenever their normal maintenance man would come over for work, he was incredibly rude to me, and would half-ass his work. I usually make a point to be nice to people, since I've worked in the Customer Service industry for many years now, but when I got the wonderful chance to see him face to face, he has spoken to me condescendingly every time.
Now that I've moved out of the apartment, I have found a huge problem that multiple people here have faced- the landlord will take every penny he/she can out of the security deposit unashamedly. They even broke it down and itemized it for us- $100 for cleaning the apartment, even though my roommates and I worked our asses off making sure that it looked clean; $300 late move-out fee from my roommate; and $500 in damages- by "damages" they mean $5 for every small thumbtack hole, $5 for nails left in the wall, and $5 for every "tape mark" found. This is a ridiculous amount of money for things that would most likely be covered with the repainting of the apartment that they say they do before new tenants move in.
They have earned a star back because the apartment was genuinely a nice place to live in, for a very affordable price, despite having so many issues with the management itself.
