Getty Square

The center of government and business of downtown Yonkers. This square is also the name for the surrounding neighborhood. The impact of recent waves of Mexican immigrants can be tasted in the cheap and delicious Mexican taquerias and bakery. Also, low-priced clothing goods are abundant, and the lack of chain stores is a nice change. A good place to find deals. Lots of Bee-Line Buses and MTA Express buses come through here, and it is great place to connect to other lines to get almost any place in Westchester or the Bronx. Check out the St. John's Episcopal farmers market on Thursdays, and the Groundwork farmers market on Fridays (in beautiful Van Der Donck Daylighting Park where the Saw Mill River was uncovered).
