Hampton Inn Schenectady

One thing about traveling with a particular brand is you always know what to expect, and Hampton Inn is tops at this. The look, general layout and rooms are practically identical everywhere you go which is nice when I'm traveling on business. I often stay at a Hilton or Conrad property when I'm on vacation and those properties are usually distinctive to their area which is awesome when on vacation but not so much when you are on business. My favorite part about "downgrading" to the Hampton is the free breakfast buffet. It's consistent everywhere I travel, and is generally a step above the competition. Now, as to why I didn't give this property its 5th star, just small stuff. It was generally modestly busy while I was there, and occasionally the staff fell behind on keeping things stocked especially during breakfast. They only had 1 waffle maker where most locations have 2, and that created a bottleneck sometimes. Last comment, while the hotel itself is located within the nicer part of this town, you don't have to wander far to be somewhere decidedly less nice. Be careful.
