Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center

Beautiful wildlife refuge! It’s hard to imagine in a place like NY, but this gem is an oasis nestled among the hustle and bustle of it all. We had an amazing morning of walking and birdwatching. Lots of great shorebirds (Dunlins, Black-bellied Plovers, Yellowlegs and more), but be sure to bring your scope. Some of the views are distant. Also, the location seems like it’d be better to view at night. The morning sun made for harsh viewing conditions. Hope to get back again soon!
