I love it up here. Unique hiking spot with 3 different levels to explore 1. The bottom of the mountain in the riverbed with large rock walls on both sides which makes you feel like you're in a canyon. On this level, a little ways up the river, there is a rock jump into the river from about 13 feet or so which is fun. 2. The middle of the mountain at the bottom of the falls where you can swim in the pool at the foot of the falls and let the waterfall splash right on top of you. 3.Higher up the mountain at the top of the falls where you can hike up to the top of the mountain and get some really nice views, especially of the Hudson. What's great about this area is that almost anywhere you start your hike, you have an oppotunity to get near water and jump in the river to cool off. Also, it's only a short ride (just over 2 hours) from southern Nassau County so it's easy to do in just a day trip. Highly recommended.
